Time to file tax returns for residents in Spain

This is the twentieth year that we at Global Accounting have been helping Swedes declare their income in Spain. If you are a resident in Spain, you must declare all your worldwide income for the tax year 2018. The Spanish tax return is submitted during May-June 2019. Employment income includes pensions, salaries, and board fees. Capital income includes interest income, dividends, stock sales (both profits and losses), rental income, as well as calculated imputed income from holiday homes and profits or losses from property sales.

Certain expenses can be deducted from income. These deductions primarily concern costs for dependent children, dependent retired parents, family member disability, mortgage interest and payments under certain conditions, and paid rent also under certain conditions. Spouses can freely decide whether they want to be taxed separately or jointly.

If you would like assistance from us at Global Accounting, you can email all documentation or schedule a meeting. Preferably by April 30.

If you owe additional tax, either 100% of the tax must be paid by June 30, or 60% by June 30 and the remaining 40% by November 7. You may choose which of these two payment options you prefer. For those who have received Swedish pension subject to SINK taxation, we can help you recover part of the SINK tax from Sweden.

If you are filing as a resident in Spain for the first time, you will need a digital signature. Contact us and we will arrange it for you.

If you need help with your Swedish tax returns, we are also happy to assist you with that.
